The selection process for this index is multifaceted, rigorous, and lengthy \u2013 Clarivate has established <a href=\"https:\/\/clarivate.com\/academia-government\/scientific-and-academic-research\/research-discovery-and-referencing\/web-of-science\/web-of-science-core-collection\/editorial-selection-process\/book-evaluation-process-selection-criteria\/\" target=\"_blank\">18 editorial and scientific criteria<\/a> that must be met simultaneously, and each submitted monograph is assessed individually.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Maritime transport is the lifeblood of the global economy \u2013 more than 80% of world trade is carried out by sea. Today\u2019s challenges related to safety, efficiency, and innovation in this sector increasingly require a data-driven perspective. Maritime data are relevant not only for researchers but also for practitioners: logistics operators and shipowners, insurance companies, institutions responsible for maritime safety, and enterprises developing solutions based on big data and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>The monograph summarizes many years of research conducted by our Department in the field of maritime data analysis, carried out as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/kie.ue.poznan.pl\/en\/simmo\/\">SIMMO I<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/kie.ue.poznan.pl\/en\/hansa\/\">HANSA<\/a> research projects as well as individual studies. Readers will find an overview of available maritime data sources, innovative analytical tools, and examples of methods applied to real data from the AIS system, covering more than 120,000 vessels worldwide \u2013 demonstrating how data can support business and operational decision-making in practice.<\/p>\n<p>The authors of the monograph are <a href=\"https:\/\/kie.ue.poznan.pl\/en\/milena-strozyna\/\">Milena Str\u00f3\u017cyna<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kie.ue.poznan.pl\/en\/witold-abramowicz\/\">Witold Abramowicz<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kie.ue.poznan.pl\/en\/krzysztof-wecel\/\">Krzysztof W\u0119cel<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kie.ue.poznan.pl\/en\/jacek-malyszko\/\">Jacek Ma\u0142yszko<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/kie.ue.poznan.pl\/en\/dominik-filipiak\/\">Dominik Filipiak<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is especially worth highlighting today, September 25 \u2013 World Maritime Day \u2013 a day dedicated to the importance of maritime transport for the global economy and security.
