The scientific monograph “Data Analysis in the Maritime Domain“, authored by our researchers, has received a positive evaluation from Clarivate experts and has been accepted into the prestigious Web of Science Book Citation Index (BkCI) – a database of influential scientific monographs of the highest publishing standards. The selection process for this index is multifaceted, rigorous, and lengthy – Clarivate has established 18 editorial and scientific criteria that must be met simultaneously, and each submitted monograph is assessed individually.
Maritime transport is the lifeblood of the global economy – more than 80% of world trade is carried out by sea. Today’s challenges related to safety, efficiency, and innovation in this sector increasingly require a data-driven perspective. Maritime data are relevant not only for researchers but also for practitioners: logistics operators and shipowners, insurance companies, institutions responsible for maritime safety, and enterprises developing solutions based on big data and artificial intelligence.
The monograph summarizes many years of research conducted by our Department in the field of maritime data analysis, carried out as part of the SIMMO I and HANSA research projects as well as individual studies. Readers will find an overview of available maritime data sources, innovative analytical tools, and examples of methods applied to real data from the AIS system, covering more than 120,000 vessels worldwide – demonstrating how data can support business and operational decision-making in practice.
The authors of the monograph are Milena Stróżyna, Witold Abramowicz, Krzysztof Węcel, Jacek Małyszko and Dominik Filipiak.
It is especially worth highlighting today, September 25 – World Maritime Day – a day dedicated to the importance of maritime transport for the global economy and security. The monograph is available for download at the Poznań University of Economics and Business Press website: doi.org/10.18559/978-83-8211-137-8
Congratulations to the Authors, and we encourage you to read and explore this work!
