On 22-23 January 2020 Poznań University of economics and Business hosted the kick-off meeting of the SIMMO II project: System for Intelligent Maritime Monitoring II. PUEB was represented by the Department of Information Systems: prof. Witold Abramowicz, Dr. Milena Stróżyna, Dr. Krzysztof Węcel and Dominik Filipiak, who are members of the project’s team.
SIMMO II is a research and development project, ordered by the European Defense Agency (Cat B Project) and financed by the Polish and Luxembourg Ministries of Defense. The project is implemented jointly with LuxSpace Sarl from Luxembourg, and PUEB acts as the project’s coordinator.
The kick-off was attended by representatives of the partner company, as well as the European Defense Agency and members of the Steering Committee on behalf of the EDA.
The objective of the SIMMO II project is the deployment of state-of-the-art data science methods and Big Data technologies in order to provide a dynamic, comprehensive, and enhanced maritime picture. Using the new approach the system will be able to perform faster intelligence analysis based on vast amount of heterogeneous maritime data. The aim will be to assure real-time situation analysis on the global scale and for various ship types.
