At the KES 2025 international scientific conference, papers authored by our researchers were presented, reporting the results of research on the evolution of scientific trends in blockchain technology and on the quality and distribution of data visualizations in the Polish Wikipedia.
The first presentation titled “Exploring Research Trends in Blockchain and Crypto-Assets Using Various Sources” focused on the analysis of research trends in the field of blockchain technology and crypto-assets based on a bibliometric and thematic analysis of scientific literature from 2015–2025. The study examined 50,000 scientific publications, using natural language processing (NLP) techniques to identify and analyze the evolution of research topics over time. The findings provide a unique, data-driven picture of how blockchain research has evolved, highlighting which areas have gained the most significance and which are still emerging, offering valuable insights for research strategy planning, technological investment, and innovation policy development. Authors of the research: Dr. Piotr Stolarski, Dr. Włodzimierz Lewoniewski.
The second presentation titled “Quality Measures for Data Visualization: A Case Study of Polish Wikipedia” examined the quality of data visualizations in the Polish-language Wikipedia. Based on a dataset of over one million articles, the study classified tables, charts, diagrams, and maps into 22 thematic groups. The analysis was enriched with metadata and semantic labels generated by a multimodal language–vision model. The research defined and applied more than 30 quality measures for data visualizations, offering the first comprehensive study of the visual layer of Polish Wikipedia. The results provide valuable guidance for designers, educators, and developers of tools that support the quality of digital content. The developed methodology can be applied to assess and monitor the quality of visual content not only across different language editions of Wikipedia but also in other open knowledge repositories. Authors of the research: Dr. Szczepan Górtowski, Dr. Włodzimierz Lewoniewski.
