The DIS team starts the OpenFact project

On 2nd December 2021 our department started the OpenFact project. The objective of the project is to develop a tool for verifying the credibility of information sources in the Internet and for detecting fake news using Artificial Intelligence. As part of this project, the members of our department are preparing a solution that will inform users about source’s credibility and news veracity assessment by propagating this results in search engines and popular social networks.

The solution will be designed to detect fake news in Polish language in various topics areas. The state-of-the-art data science methods will be used to detect fake news, including machine learning, artificial intelligence and natural language processing.

The OpenFact project is financed by the INFOSTRATEG I program of the National Center for Research and Development, under the topic: Verifying information sources and detecting fake news. It is planned for 3 years (2021-2024), and its budget is PLN 3,400,500 PLN.
