Quantifying Americanization in different language versions of Wikipedia

Scientific article entitled “Quantifying Americanization: Coverage of American Topics in Different Wikipedias” was published in the Social Science Computer Review journal. The work is the first global, quantitative confirmation of issues often raised or assumed in the literature on Americanization and related phenomena.

The Impact of Crises on Maritime Traffic: A Case Study of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the War in Ukraine

The article by employees of our Department was published in the journal “Networks and Spatial Economics” by Springer. The work analyzes the impact of international crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, on maritime traffic and their consequences for the global and local economy.

ACADEMIA: Information Quality on Wikipedia

The latest issue of the ACADEMIA magazine published an article on the automation of the content quality assessment process in multilingual Wikipedia. The work briefly presents the advantages and disadvantages of the open nature of this encyclopedia, differences in the quality assessment systems and distinctions for Wikipedia articles between language versions, and issues related to the assessment of the reliability of information sources.

Awards in the 28th PUEB Best Diploma Theses Competition

Theses written under the supervision of scientists from our Department received awards in the 28th edition of competitions for the best bachelor’s, engineering and master’s theses defended at the Poznań University of Economics and Business in the academic years 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023.

Doctoral promotion of Dominik Filipiak

During the ceremonial doctoral and habilitation promotion at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, Dr. Dominik Filipiak received a Ph.D. diploma in economics. His doctoral thesis entitled “Exploring features of paintings for modelling preferences of buyers on the Polish art market” was defended with distinction on October 17, 2022. Research visit of Frederik Fonger

On October 24-27, 2023, Frederik Fonger from the Kiel University (Germany) was on a research visit to the Poznań University of Economics. Frederik is a member of the research team of Prof. Agnes Koschmider from the University of Bayreuth. The aim of the visit was to establish closer scientific cooperation between universities in the field of integration and processing of streaming and text data.
