Poznań University of Economics and Business
Students of our specialization in Informatics and Econometrics – Mikołaj Tym and Jakub Żerebecki (2nd degree, 1st year, speciality: Information Systems for Business and Administration) – took part in the competition “The Web Intelligence – Deduplication Challenge” organized by Eurostat between December 2022 and April 2023 year. The task performed concerned the field of Data Science and natural language processing.
Theses written under the supervision of scientists from our Department received awards in the 28th edition of competitions for the best bachelor’s, engineering and master’s theses defended at the Poznań University of Economics and Business in the academic years 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023.
During the 10th International Scientific Conference “Knowledge and Information Technologies in Creating Entrepreneurship” and the 5th Congress of Business Informatics, prizes were awarded in the 26th edition of the of the Scientific Society of Business Informatics (Polish abbr. “NTIE”) for the best diploma theses in the field of business informatics defended in 2022. During the WiTIwKP 2022 conference, awards were presented in the 25th edition of the Scientific Society of Business Informatics (Polish abbr. “NTIE”) for the best diploma theses in the field of business informatics. Bachelor’s theses written under the supervision of Prof. Agata Filipowska were ranked first and third.
During the XXI PUEB Victorie Gala 2021, the results of the competition for the best employees of the Poznań University of Economics and Business were announced. In this year’s edition, the award was also given to a PhD student of our department – Piotr Kałużny. The supervisor of the doctoral dissertation is prof. Witold Abramowicz, and the auxiliary supervisor Prof. Agata Filipowska
In the jubilee 15th edition of the PUEB Foundation competition for the best doctoral dissertations defended at the Poznań University of Economics and Business in the 2018/2019 academic year, the members of the Department of Information Systems took the first two places. Head of the Department of Information Systems Prof. Witold Abramowicz was awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland with the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for outstanding achievements in scientific and research work. On the 8 to 12 October 2018 in Monterey (CA) the 17th International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC 2018) took place. Szymon Wieczorek, a student collaborating with the Department of Information Systems, partaken in the conference on behalf of our university. On the 25-27 June 2018 Dominik Filipiak and Milena Stróżyna participated in the 8th International Tech-Science Conference NATCON “Naval Technologies for Defence and Security”, in Gdańsk. On January 29th, at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice were announced results of the competition for the best foreign student in Poland – INTERSTUDENT 2018.
