The twenty-sixth edition of the International Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS 2026) was held on 10–12 June 2026 at the Prague University of Economics and Business. In response to the growing importance of AI and digital transformation in business, the theme of BIS 2026 was defined as: “From Hype to Impact: Turning AI into Real Business Value”.
As part of the opening session, participants had the opportunity to attend a keynote speech by Professor Claudia Loebbecke from the University of Cologne, where she holds the Chair of Media and Technology Management. Her presentation focused on the impact of the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) on business, media and academia, as well as on how AI is evolving from a breakthrough technology and a source of competitive advantage into a standard element of how contemporary organizations operate. The talk also addressed how this process is changing value creation, communication and knowledge production, and what strategies can help organizations build resilience, adaptability and long-term competitiveness in the era of ubiquitous AI.
Another important event on the first day of the conference was a discussion panel that brought together representatives of academia and business. The panelists exchanged experiences and views on current challenges and opportunities related to the development of information systems and digital transformation. The panel was moderated by Krzysztof Węcel. The discussion featured:
- Claudia Loebbecke (University of Cologne),
- Martin Ondas (BizMachine),
- Tomáš Rosa (Raiffeisen Bank International AG and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague),
- Adam Wójtowicz (Poznań University of Economics and Business, Department of Information Technology).
