The inaugural meeting of the Student Research Group “Data Science” in the academic year 2024/2025 was held at the Poznań University of Economics and Business. During the meeting, the planned activities of the SRG Data Science and proposals for areas of activity in the coming months were discussed. Additionally, employees of our Department presented the opportunities and challenges related to data analysis in various areas.
An open lecture titled “BaseModel: introduction to behavioral modeling” took place at the Poznań University of Economics and Business. The lecture was led by Ksawery Smoczyński, Machine Learning Engineer at Synerise BaseModel. It is worth mentioning that Ksawery is a graduate of the Poznań University of Economics and Business and one of the founders of SRG Data Science.
An open lecture entitled “Building a Career in Data Science: Advice from the Allegro Team” was held at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, led by Dr. Piotr Kałużny and Anna Cielas. The lecture focused on the practical aspects of working as a Data Scientist in one of the largest purchasing platforms in Central and Eastern Europe.
In today’s rapidly changing data-driven economy, understanding modern analytical tools and the ability to adapt to innovative technologies such as GenAI is crucial to developing competitive competencies, achieving market advantage and providing important decision-making information across industries. Professional practice shows that the work of a person dealing with machine learning (ML) does not end with creating a model. So what else needs to be done and what is “Ops” all about? These and many other questions were answered during an open meeting by Jacek Jankowiak, one of the founders of the SRG Data Science, currently working as a Data Science and Engineering Consultant.
Representatives of SRG Data Science took part in the “AI School” workshops for students, organized by Microsoft and Żabka Group. This meeting was an excellent opportunity to learn about the world of generative artificial intelligence. The classes consisted of two parts: theoretical and practical.

Before the start of the Christmas break, Gwiazdor 2.0 visited the Poznań University of Economics and Business and sent wishes in various languages. One of such Christmas visits of Gwiazdor was recorded during classes of the Student Research Group “Data Science”. As part of this short speech, he read the poems in 18 languages.
