SRG Data Science: inaugural meeting 2024/2025

The inaugural meeting of the Student Research Group “Data Science” in the academic year 2024/2025 was held at the Poznań University of Economics and Business. During the meeting, the planned activities of the SRG Data Science and proposals for areas of activity in the coming months were discussed. Additionally, employees of our Department presented the opportunities and challenges related to data analysis in various areas.

Combining recommender systems and language models in early detection of signs of anorexia

An article by our scientists entitled “Combining Recommender Systems and Language Models in Early Detection of Signs of Anorexia” has been published in open access. The work describes the approach that obtained the best result according to the ERDE metric in the international competition for early risk prediction on the Internet – eRisk 2024. Employees of the Department of Information Systems at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, Prof. Agata Filipowska and Oskar Riewe-Perła, took part in the eRisk 2024 competition. The aim of the competition was to develop a system for early recognition of people with anorexia based on their activity on social media platforms.

Awards in the 28th PUEB Best Diploma Theses Competition

Theses written under the supervision of scientists from our Department received awards in the 28th edition of competitions for the best bachelor’s, engineering and master’s theses defended at the Poznań University of Economics and Business in the academic years 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023.

Doctoral promotion of Dominik Filipiak

During the ceremonial doctoral and habilitation promotion at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, Dr. Dominik Filipiak received a Ph.D. diploma in economics. His doctoral thesis entitled “Exploring features of paintings for modelling preferences of buyers on the Polish art market” was defended with distinction on October 17, 2022. Thesis supervisor: Prof. Witold Abramowicz, auxiliary supervisor: Prof. Agata Filipowska.

Awards in the 26th Competition for the Best Diploma Theses in the field of Business Informatics

During the 10th International Scientific Conference “Knowledge and Information Technologies in Creating Entrepreneurship” and the 5th Congress of Business Informatics, prizes were awarded in the 26th edition of the of the Scientific Society of Business Informatics (Polish abbr. “NTIE”) for the best diploma theses in the field of business informatics defended in 2022. Piotr Kałużny received PhD with distinction

By the decision of the Office of Academic Advancement Board of the University of Economics in Poznań of January 14, 2022, our employee Piotr Kałużny was awarded a doctoral degree in the discipline of “economics and finance”. At the same time, the Office of Academic Advancement Board, supporting the proposal of the Doctoral Committee awarded the doctoral dissertation with distinction.
