Research trends in blockchain and crypto-assets

A study authored by our researchers, dedicated to the analysis of research trends in the fields of blockchain technology and crypto-assets, has been published in open access on the Elsevier publishing platform. The study analyzes more than 50,000 scientific publications from the years 2015–2025, and its findings provide a unique, data-driven picture of how blockchain research has evolved over time.

Automatic Quality Assessment of Data Visualizations: A Case Study of Polish Wikipedia

The article “Quality Measures for Data Visualization: A Case Study of Polish Wikipedia”, authored by our researchers, has been published in open access. The work focuses on analyzing the quality of data visualizations in the Polish edition of Wikipedia. The study draws on an extensive dataset of over one million articles, from which visual elements such as tables, charts, diagrams, and maps were extracted and classified.

Representatives of the Department of Information Systems at the SAP Academic Community Conference EMEA 2025

Dr. Elżbieta Lewańska and Dr. Milena Stróżyna from the Department of Information Systems represented the Poznań University of Economics and Business at the SAP Academic Community Conference EMEA 2025, held on 4–6 November 2025 in Athens, Greece. The event, organized by the SAP University Alliances, brought together academics from 37 countries from the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa).

AI-Driven Digital Transformation: Perspectives from a Business School

The scientific monograph “AI-Driven Digital Transformation: Perspectives from a Business School” has been published by Routledge. The volume offers a multifaceted view of AI-driven digital transformation from the perspective of a renowned business school. It comprises 23 chapters divided into six thematic areas: decision support, data processing, marketing and product development, supply chains, finance, and broader social issues.

Dr. Włodzimierz Lewoniewski awarded the Medal of the Commission of National Education

During the ceremonial inauguration of the 2025/2026 academic year at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, state medals and distinctions were presented to university staff. Among the awardees was Dr. Włodzimierz Lewoniewski, a member of the Department of Information Systems, who received the Medal of the Commission of National Education.

SRG Data Science: Organizational Meeting 2025/2026

On October 30th, the organizational meeting of the Student Research Group “Data Science” took place. During the meeting, the group’s directions of activity and the plan for the 2025/2026 academic year were discussed. This year’s workshops and lectures will focus on developing fundamental skills in data analysis and creating projects using Python and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript). Meetings with industry professionals are also planned.

BIS 2026 will be held in Prague

The 26th edition of the International Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS 2026) will take place on June 10–12, 2026, at the University of Economics in Prague (Czech Republic). From the very beginning this renowned conference has been recognized by scientists and business practitioners as a forum for the exchange and dissemination of topical research in the development, implementation, application, and improvement of computer systems for business.

Scientific Presentations: From Blockchain Trends to the Quality of Visualizations in Wikipedia

At the KES 2025 international scientific conference, papers authored by our researchers were presented, reporting the results of research on the evolution of scientific trends in blockchain technology and on the quality and distribution of data visualizations in the Polish Wikipedia.

Researchers’ Night 2025: Operation InfoVerification

During Researchers’ Night 2025, the staff of the Department of Information Systems conducted workshops titled “Operation InfoVerification” that were presented in the engaging form of a field game. The event introduced participants to the process of verifying information and identifying fake news. The workshops combined elements of adventure, investigation, and logic-based challenges, immersing participants in the fascinating world of fact-checking.

Presentation of research on the application of modern technologies in sustainable development

The research conducted by scientists from the Department of Information Systems on the use of IT in solutions supporting sustainable development was presented at the international scientific conference KES 2025 (29th International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems). The event took place in September 2025 in a hybrid format in Osaka (Japan) and online.
