On April 18-19, the First Poznań Conference “Bibliometric analyses of Open Science” was held. During this event, Dr. Włodzimierz Lewoniewski presented results of the research on scientific publications and other important sources of information in Wikipedia articles in different languages.
The OpenFact project is run by the team of our Department in cooperation with technological and substantive partners, including: Google, Facebook, Bright Data, Harvard University, as well as leading fact-checking organizations in Poland. Scientific article on effectiveness of the Relative Strength Index (RSI) signals in timing the cryptocurrency market was published in the “Sensors” journal. The journal’s Impact Factor for 2021 was 3.847, the five-year Impact Factor was 4.050. Authors of the publication: Marek Zatwarnicki, Krzysztof Zatwarnicki, Piotr Stolarski.
The scientific paper on automatic identification of important information sources on a specific topic in the multilingual Wikipedia based on analysis of more than 230 million references has been published on the Elsevier website. The study presents various models for automatic evaluation of information sources, which take into account the frequency of the information sources, the popularity of the content from readers and Wikipedia editors point of view.
Before the start of the Christmas break, Gwiazdor 2.0 visited the Poznań University of Economics and Business and sent wishes in various languages. One of such Christmas visits of Gwiazdor was recorded during classes of the Student Research Group “Data Science”. As part of this short speech, he read the poems in 18 languages.
Poznań University of Economics and Business Press has published a book “Data analysis in the maritime domain“. The book summarizes many years’ research of the DIS team in the maritime domain, which were realized within the completed projects (SIMMO I and HANSA) as well as individual research. Authors of the book: Milena Stróżyna, Witold Abramowicz, Krzysztof Węcel, Jacek Małyszko and Dominik Filipiak.
The IEEE published a paper on the automatic identification of reliable sources of information about companies in the multilingual Wikipedia. The information source assessment models presented in the publication can help Internet users find valuable sources of information about companies using open data from Wikipedia, DBpedia and Wikidata.
During the WiTIwKP 2022 conference, awards were presented in the 25th edition of the Scientific Society of Business Informatics (Polish abbr. “NTIE”) for the best diploma theses in the field of business informatics. Bachelor’s theses written under the supervision of Prof. Agata Filipowska were ranked first and third.
During the 9th of the National Scientific Conference “Knowledge and information technologies in creating entrepreneurship” (WiTIwKP), representatives of our Department presented the SocialScan tool supporting the verification of credibility of information on social networks. This year’s edition of the conference was held on October 6-7 in a hybrid mode (stationary in Olsztyn near Częstochowa and remotely).
