During the eleventh edition of the Professor Zbigniew Czerwiński National Scientific Conference “Mathematics and IT at the services of economics” (MIUE 2022), a lecture entitled “Can social media defend against fake news?” was delivered. The presentation cointained department’s research on the detection of fake news using artificial intelligence methods. This year’s edition of the MIUE conference was held on September 16 remotely.
On April 22-24, in the Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park in Chorzów, the conference “Wikimedians Spring Meetup 2022” was held. The event consisted of lectures, training sessions, workshops, work on project issues for people editing Wikimedia projects (including Wikipedia, Wikidata and others). The conference was organized by the Polish public benefit organization “Wikimedia Polska”.
On 2nd December 2021 our department started the OpenFact project. The objective of the project is to develop a tool for verifying the credibility of information sources in the Internet and for detecting fake news using Artificial Intelligence.
